It's good if you want to be healthy by consuming nutritious foods, but do not forget that what you eat everyday should provide enough calories* to produce energy for daily activities. Each gram of fat you eat provides more than twice as many calories as a gram of protein or carbohydrate.

Here's the details:
+ Protein : Every gram of protein provides 4 calories.
+ Carbohydrate : Every gram of carbohydrate provides 4 calories.
+ Fat : Every gram of fat provides 9 calories.

*Calorie: a unit of energy equal to 4.2 kJ (4.1855 joules)

What is the normal caloric intake of me?
It is not easy to set absolute amount calorie levels, because everyone has different body composition (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph, height, weight), activity levels, also individual purposes too (just want to maintain current weight / lose weight / gain weight). It depends on age (child or adult) and health of the person!

The United States Department of Agriculture suggests that approximately 50 percent of your calories should come from carbohydrates, about 30 percent from fats, and approximately 20 percent from protein sources. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reccommends that women intake between 1500 to 2000 calories a day. The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends that toddlers, ages 1-3 years old, eat around 40 calories per inch of height each day.

For an average size adult man they can consume about 2000-2500 calories a day. In case you are adult with endomorph body type (stocky person) who wants to eat less (diet to lose weight), please be aware that less than 1500 calories a day will slow down the metabolism. That is not good for your health. You had better exercise as well as eating less, you should lose a good amount of weight.

A child's nutrition needs are different. For toddlers/children/kids generally requires supply approximately 40 calories for each inch of the child’s height. They who are very active need more calories, while those who are relatively inactive need less. Yes, this still depends on height, weight and health of the kid. In case you want to determine how many the recommended daily intake of different nutritients for you more accurately, a "Calorie calculator" may help you. You can search it online.
